Beauty & Cosmetic Medical Procedures

Look and feel your best during and after breast cancer treatment.

Beauty & Self-Care During Cancer Treatment

The stress of undergoing cancer treatment, not to mention the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, can affect your physical and mental well-being. But there are resources to help: from cold-capping to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy to spa days that give you the pampering you deserve.

Look Good Feel Better helps women feel their best by teaching them beauty techniques that address the aesthetic effects of cancer treatment. They partner with beauty professionals to help women with skin and nail care, cosmetics, wig and turbans, and accessories and styling.

Racine Spa Cancer Care Program offers complimentary spa services and a supportive community from its Long Island, NY location. Services range from specialized scalp treatments to facials to reiki energy work. Located in Islip, NY.

CancerCare has partnered with makeup retailer Sephora to offer cosmetic and beauty classes and tutorials at many Sephora locations nationwide.

Dignicap offers clinically-proven treatment to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy and is administered during your chemo sessions. Dignicap is available at many of the Northwell Health partner locations where Friedman Center patients receive chemotherapy.

If you need help connecting with these resources, please contact our patient advocates for assistance.

Cosmetic Medical Procedures

After breast cancer treatment, the Friedman Center offers onsite cosmetic procedures, such as Botox and dermal fillers, to rejuvenate your skin. It’s all part of feeling whole again.

Cancer treatments such as chemo, radiation, and surgery take a toll on your body. Many women move into recovery looking for ways to revitalize themselves. Nutrition, exercise, and mindbody practices may be part of that journey. Cosmetic skin treatments are another way to refresh your outward appearance and help you feel more like yourself.

Medical-Grade Skincare

All of our skincare products are medical grade and backed by scientific research. They’re more effective and longer-lasting than over the counter solutions.

Skincare treatments include:

  • Neuromodulators. Injectable medications, such as Botox, that are used to relax wrinkles, alleviate pain from TMJ and migraines, and reduce excessive armpit sweating. Results typically last 3-5 months.
  • Dermal fillers. Injectable medications made from hyaluronic acid and similar substances, used to add volume and smoothness to the face. Dermal fillers can treat wrinkles around the mouth, thin lips, cheeks and temples that have lost fullness, tear trough, and the jawline and chin. Results typically last 6 months to 2 years.

Treatments are administered in our office by nurse practitioners. Our nurse practitioners are highly-trained in using these products to help women achieve noticeable but natural-looking results.

Customized Treatment Plans

Just as your preferences about breast reconstruction are unique and personal, so are your decisions around cosmetic skin treatments. We’ll create a custom regimen that meets your needs and helps achieve your personal goals.
