A champion for women’s health and well-being, Dr. Diana Caragacianu (“Dr. C”) is motivated by scientific progress and the evolving capabilities of precision medicine in surgery, oncology, and genomics. She empowers patients to take an active role in their treatment by providing education, guidance, compassionate care, and consistent emotional support.

Dr. Caragacianu’s areas of focus span hereditary breast cancer, nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery, breast-conserving surgery, and global medicine and surgery. Her advanced training includes work at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, where she focused on intraoperative radiation therapy and complex surgical techniques, as well as oncoplastic surgery training in Paris.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Caragacianu has taught at Georgetown University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She helped lead the development of the Tufts Medicine School-affiliated Hallmark Health System’s breast center and was director of Medstar’s Lafayette Breast Program. She has also developed a high-risk screening program that provides individualized screening and genetic counseling.

A strong advocate for advancing oncology through research, Dr. Caragacianu has published many peer-reviewed abstracts and contributed to national and international scientific forums. As a Friedman Center breast surgeon, she brings advanced expertise, genuine warmth, and a steadfast commitment to every patient she serves.
