Dr. Erika King is driven by the belief that medicine bridges the gap between science and the human connection. Her work focuses on delivering expert surgical care and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health, particularly in the face of hereditary cancer risk.

Dr. King is passionate about academic medicine and committed to advancing personalized cancer care, fertility preservation, and genetic research, particularly in the context of paternally inherited BRCA mutations. Her research includes exploring how paternally inherited BRCA mutations influence breast cancer risk and outcomes, and she is committed to advocating for more inclusive genetic screening and awareness.

Prior to her surgical training, Dr. King was a tenured science teacher in New York City Public Schools and a Teach for America corps member, experiences that have inspired her dedication to research and education. She has remained deeply involved in professional organizations, including the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Surgical Society of Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons.

As a Friedman Center physician, Dr. King is committed to advancing multidisciplinary, evidence-based breast cancer care and helping patients navigate complex treatment decisions with clarity and dignity.

“From our first visit, Dr. King treated me like a person, not a case. The results exceeded what I hoped for, and the way the team supported me through the process made all the difference.”
