Dr. Michael Borrero is a board-certified surgeon with expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, including microsurgery. He brings a positive attitude and dedication to the highest standards of patient care. Dr. Borrero sees patients as collaborators in their treatment plans, and he works to educate patients about their options so they can make the right choices for themselves.

It’s Dr. Borrero’s goal to build rapport with each patient. He is known for leading every conversation with a smile and following it up with supportive care that focuses on the patient’s individual needs. An expert in reconstructive surgery, he has published research on flap reconstruction, including work on best practices in abdominal-based flap reconstruction and the PAP flap as an alternative flap site.

Dr. Borrero completed his medical training at Stony Brook University in New York and residency and fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences. He is deeply dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, always striving to ensure the best outcomes and experiences for those he serves.

He has long been committed to using his skills to serve others. He has trained over 1,000 people as a volunteer CPR instructor, served as a “smile buddy” for hospitalized children, and provided medical care to earthquake victims in Haiti.

Alexa has a solid background in surgery and brings a wealth of experience to our reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery team. She is committed to advancing her expertise in plastic surgery and provides exceptional care to her patients with a holistic approach to patient management. Outside of work, Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, which helps balance her professional and personal life.

Cristina Palces

As a Surgical Coordinator, Cristina values the opportunity to support patients throughout the surgical process by helping them feel informed, prepared, and at ease during what can be an overwhelming time. Having served in her previous role at Northwell Health, scheduling operating room surgical cases across multiple specialties, she knows all too well how important it is for patients to feel well cared for. Outside of work, Cristina enjoys spending quality time with my family and traveling.
